There were three friends who were shipwrecked on a deserted island. They had been there for several months and were starting to get really bored with nothing to do. One day, they came across a magic lamp buried in the sand.
Excitedly, they rubbed the lamp and out popped a genie. The genie said, "I will grant each of you one wish, but you must use it wisely."
The first friend wished to be rescued from the island and taken back home. Poof! The genie granted his wish and he disappeared from the island.
The second friend thought for a moment and then said, "I wish to be rich beyond my wildest dreams." Poof! The genie granted his wish and he disappeared as well.
Now it was the third friend's turn. He sat there for a while, contemplating his wish. Finally, he said, "I'm feeling a bit lonely now that my friends are gone. I wish for them to be back by my side."
Poof! The genie granted his wish and just like that, the first two friends were back on the island with him.
The third friend sighed and said, "I should have just wished for a boat to get off this island."
