The Set Designer's Splash: A Comedy of Realism

A man walks into a bar and orders a drink. The bartender sets the drink down in front of him and asks, "Hey buddy, why the long face?"

The man looks up and sighs, "Well, you see, I just got fired from my job as a set designer for being too realistic."

The bartender raises an eyebrow, intrigued. "Too realistic? How so?"

The man takes a sip of his drink and explains, "Well, for our latest production, I was tasked with creating a realistic beach scene. So, I went all out and brought in tons of sand, seashells, and even set up a wave machine. But apparently, the actors kept complaining about the sand getting in their shoes, the seagulls pooping everywhere, and the waves knocking them over. They said it was just too much to deal with on stage."

The bartender chuckles and shakes his head. "Well, I guess you really did take your job seriously."

The man nods and continues, "Yeah, and to top it all off, I even hired a real shark for the underwater scenes. But apparently, the actors didn't appreciate being chased around by a real shark. They said it was too dangerous. So, they fired me, and now here I am, drowning my sorrows in this drink."

The bartender laughs and pats the man on the back. "Well, at least you can say you went out with a splash! But hey, look on the bright side – now you have plenty of time to work on your next big, realistic project. Just maybe leave out the shark next time, okay?"

The man chuckles and raises his glass. "Cheers to that. And hey, thanks for listening and for the drink. Maybe I'll try my hand at comedy next."

And with that, the man and the bartender shared a good laugh, proving that sometimes, life really is just one big joke.
