A man was walking down the street when he came across a sign that read, "Talking Dog for Sale." Intrigued, he walked up to the door and knocked. The owner answered and led him to the backyard where a golden retriever was sitting.
"Is this the talking dog?" the man asked.
"Yes, he is," replied the owner.
The man was skeptical but decided to give it a shot. "So, what's your story?" he asked the dog.
The dog replied, "Well, I discovered my ability to talk when I was just a puppy. My previous owners were amazed and wanted to sell me to a circus. But I didn't want that life, so I ran away and ended up here."
The man was impressed. "That's incredible! How much are you selling him for?"
The owner thought for a moment and said, "How about $50,000?"
The man was taken aback. "That's a bit steep. Can you prove to me that he really talks?"
The owner nodded and turned to the dog. "What's the best thing about being able to talk?"
The dog replied, "Well, the best part is being able to tell people to buy me steak every day!"
The man was amused but still skeptical. "Okay, maybe one more test. What's the square root of 144?"
The dog quickly replied, "12!"
The man couldn't believe it. "Okay, fine. I'll take him."
As he was handing over the money, the man couldn't help but ask, "Why would you sell such an amazing dog for just $50,000?"
The owner smirked and replied, "Because he's a liar. He doesn't know the square root of 144. It's actually 12, but he just wanted to impress you."
